Jessica Hoekstra, LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State (LH 60984630). I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, where I was trained in trauma-informed relational psychotherapy. Since then, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including graduate level education and inpatient mental health. I have experience working with people in crisis in the context of a psychiatric hospital. I have also spent particularly focused time working with women of all ages on issues of relationships and attachment, trauma, grief and loss, identity development, and anxiety.

Originally from the city of Chicago, I graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. As a young adult, I traveled and worked with nonprofits focused on community development. After spending time in diverse communities, my curiosity about how to process the experiences (and traumas) that shape us was piqued. I had always sought out art-making and creativity as a form of mental and emotional processing. When I stumbled into the realm of psychology, I was quickly drawn in to the rich world of practices and modalities for engaging the mind and the body towards healing.

My work as a therapist was perhaps most inspired by my own experience of counseling, where, with time and good companionship, I discovered safety, healing, support, and began to truly come home to myself.

Out of the office, I enjoy spending time in nature—running, hiking and camping, bird-watching, baking, or sitting by the fire with a good book.
